Do you want to set the standard for mechanical development, DFM/DFA, product compliance, and production readiness - and actually be listened to? Are you comfortable taking responsibility from concept to production, testing, documentation, and change management? As a Mechanical Development Engineer at Chora, you will play a key role in developing robust hardware products for demanding, mission-critical environments. You will work closely with Hardware, Production, Project Management, and Product Management, with clear ownership of the mechanical domain throughout the full product lifecycle. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be a core contributor to both NPI projects and ongoing product maintenance and improvements. The role is aimed at an experienced and passionate mechanical engineer who can work independently, make sound technical decisions, and drive mechanical solutions from idea to production. Your Key Responsibilities Design mechanical systems in various materials including aluminium and plastics - from concept to production Ensure high quality and manufacturability through strong DFM/DFA practices Define, develop, and maintain mechanical design processes and best practices Design and drive product tests against environmental requirements in the defence domain (temperature, IP ratings, vibration, etc.) Support and perform compliance and environmental simulations CAD design, tooling support, and technical documentation Define technical requirements and specifications in collaboration with stakeholders Prototyping and system assembly in close cooperation with Production Use 3D printing actively and help drive adoption of new production technologies Create product documentation including assembly guides, datasheets, and test documentation Documentation of cables, connectors, and peripherals Manage subcontractors and ensure production capabilities together with Production Product maintenance and change request management Actively participate in NPI and continuous improvement of development processes Act as Project Manager for smaller mechanical projects Design and maintain production test fixtures Maintain and extend pre-compliance test lab facilities Your Profile You are an experienced Mechanical Development Engineer with a strong technical foundation and a practical understanding of what works in production. You take initiative, identify issues early, and solve them in a structured and pragmatic way. It is a requirement that you: Hold a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering Have several years of experience in mechanical product development within industrial or technology environments Proficient in 3D/2D MCAD modeling, preferably Solid Edge Can take technical ownership and lead the mechanical design domain Work proactively and independently with complex technical challenges Have hands-on experience with DFM/DFA, prototyping, and production transfer Are comfortable working across hardware, production, and project teams Are fluent in English, both written and spoken Hold Danish citizenship, or have resided continuously in Denmark for the past 7 years, enabling eligibility for security clearance Live within commuting distance of Aarhus and are able to work on-site as required Additional Experience That Strengthens Your Profile Experience from B2B technology or regulated / high-reliability products Familiarity with environmental testing and compliance within the defence domain Experience with mechanical project leadership Hands-on experience with 3D printing and modern manufacturing technologies Experience managing suppliers and subcontractors Who Typically Matches This Role?
