About the Position As an R&D Application Scientist, you will serve as a key technical driver in our development activities within process understanding, behavior of confectionary masses/fats , and technological innovation. You will work systematically and hypothesis-driven to develop and validate new process principles, optimize existing technologies, and document effects through robust data analysis. You will join a multidisciplinary R&D environment where engineers and specialists collaborate closely with customers through Sales and our Aasted Technology Center to create robust, scalable, and well-documented solutions for the global food industry. The position is based at our headquarters in Farum, Denmark. Your Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include: Driving and participating in application-oriented research and development projects within chocolate and confectionery processes Designing and executing experimental programs focused on process optimization, equipment performance, and end-product quality Analyzing and modeling process data to identify relationships between materials, process parameters, and final product characteristics Developing and validating new technologies, process principles, and control strategies Evaluating confectionary masses/fats, other ingredients and documenting their impact on rheology, texture, stability, and sensory properties Preparing technical documentation, experimental reports, and presentations with clear conclusions and recommendations Providing specialized technical expertise to internal teams within Sales, Product Management, and Customer Service Collaborating with universities, suppliers, and customers to strengthen knowledge building and accelerate innovation Strong ability to transform complex insights into clear, audience-friendly communication. Your Profile We expect that you: Hold a Master’s degree or PhD in Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical/scientific discipline Have experience with experimental work and systematic data analysis - preferably from industry-oriented research or development Have experience with analytical methods such as spectroscopy (LF-NMR, FT-IR), thermal analysis (DSC), texture analysis, and rheology Work in a structured, methodical, and well-documented manner with strong analytical capabilities Possess insight into process understanding, material behavior, and/or food physics - preferably related to complex multiphase systems Thrive at the intersection of theory and practice and are motivated by translating scientific insight into concrete industrial solutions Communicate clearly and precisely - both written and verbally - in English and as well as in Danish, as most informal conversations are in Danish It is considered an advantage if you have experience with statistical tools (Python or Matlab), Design of Experiments (DoE), and documentation in regulatory or quality-assured environments.
